Dear Lee Street Staff and Families,

It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself as the new principal of Lee Street Elementary School.  My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped over the past twenty-two years as a teacher, literacy coach, assistant principal, and principal.  In each of these roles, I have worked to ensure the success of each student and the school by working with teams of great educators to provide the best instructional practices and learning opportunities.  I have learned over the years that it truly takes a village to raise a child.  I have three children and it has been the support of family, friends, and relationships with their teachers and other school staff that has provided them with the support they needed to be successful. As principal of Lee Street Elementary, I plan to serve in a role of support for all students, families, and staff members.  I believe that we can achieve academic success for each of our students through collaboration and effective communication.  I also believe that all children can learn and with staff members, parents, administration, and community stakeholders working together, we can accomplish so many great things for our students.

A well-rounded education means outstanding instruction from top-notch teachers instructing daily, providing students with a variety of educational experiences.  Teachers need support and the opportunity to create great lessons that they love to teach to their students.  Their ideas are invaluable and stimulate the growth that is required for academic excellence to occur at an appropriate rate for our students.  Collaboratively planning with all staff members will be the culture of our school, centering all ideas, procedures, and school initiatives on what’s best for our students.

It is extremely important for parents to visit the school and share in your child’s educational experience.  We are stronger working together and our students will reap the great benefits of our collaboration and support in providing them a quality education.  Parental engagement is a major key to successful students and a school of excellence.  I invite all parents to become parent volunteers because students love to see their parents at their school and teachers greatly appreciate your support.

Safety of all students and staff members is very important for learning to take place daily.  Students and staff members perform better daily in a safe, caring, and clean environment.  I will work closely with staff members to ensure that all students receive a quality education daily at Lee Street Elementary.  I have attached a plan of action for building upon the current traditions and culture of our school that is a historic school within the Jonesboro community.  I consider it a blessing to be afforded the opportunity to work with Lee Street Elementary families and staff.  I’m looking forward to a great year ahead of us!  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or ideas you would like to share with me.
